Ann Fonfa, Breast Cancer Survivor
About this Episode:

At the age of 44, Ann Fonfa was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma, a slow growing breast cancer. She was immediately referred to a surgeon just a few blocks away. Ann saw the surgeon on a Thursday. The nurse was happy because insurance had approved the surgery. By next Monday her doctor performed a lumpectomy. No biopsy. No second opinion. Like so many others, serious illness quickly became the primary focus of her life.

Declining radiation and chemotherapy, Ann opted instead for natural methods of treatment. Therapies she used for her full recovery include dietary changes, the Budwig program, Gerson therapy and even urine therapy. She smiles and says she was her own laboratory. Her courage and refusal to give up control of her body are greatly inspiring.
