Turmeric is a bright yellow spice that has been used for centuries in cooking (particularly Indian cuisine) and in traditional Chinese and ayurvedic medicine. Now researchers are learning more about its powerful ability to influence the development of cancer in the human body.

Colorectal cancer is the second most lethal cancer and, according to the Global Cancer Observatory, causes more than 900,000 deaths worldwide every year. In a new study, researchers have found that curcumin, a natural compound found in turmeric. activates a specific signaling pathway, which effectively suppresses the metastasis of these cancer cells. The findings suggest that curcumin could be explored as a potential therapeutic agent for managing colorectal cancer metastasis.
