According to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, at least 25 cancer drugs are now in shortage, Two cancer drugs in particular — carboplatin and cisplatin — may be hurting cancer research as they are used with such a wide variety of cancers. In addition, cisplatin and other platinum-based drugs are prescribed for 10% to 20% of all cancer patients, according to the National Cancer Institute.
