You’ve probably seen the headlines:
- “Woman relieved after ‘brain tumor’ turns out to be parasite”
- “Alberta woman told she was dying of cancer discovers it’s actually a parasite”
- “Parasitic worm raises risk of cervical cancer, study finds”
Even the American Cancer Society is talking about it. “Parasites that Can Lead to Cancer.” And while they state that certain parasites are not found in the U.S., we’re not so sure.
Fact or Fiction?
Initially, I was skeptical of the relationship between parasites and cancer. But desperate people will do desperate things, and I was certainly in that category when I was dying from Stage 4 melanoma cancer over 40 years ago. The conventional therapy I endured was failing miserably, and I felt the clock was ticking on the time I had to find solutions. It was after listening to a lecture by top nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS, that the idea of parasites being related to my cancer even entered my mind.
At her invitation, we traveled to New York City to visit world-renowned Columbian parasitologist, Dr. Hermann Bueno, practicing in New York City at the time. And to my shock and surprise, he quickly shed a light on what was going on in my body. Here’s what he told me:
“You’re loaded with entamoeba histolytica, a one celled organism, the kind of thing you pick up in Mexico and many other foreign countries. It can really make you sick. You also have giardia lamblia, another one-celled organism, which is a parasite you can get from drinking water from lakes and streams, often in mountainous areas. It can really cause havoc. And you have ascaris lumbricoides, round worms.”
Round worms? That rang a bell. Many of my animals back in Texas had suffered with them.
Dr. Bueno continued, “I’m not surprised at these results. I have never seen a case of cancer or AIDS in my whole career that didn’t have a parasitic involvement.” He felt it was one of the major underlying causes of disease that too often was overlooked. Treating Parasites
My battle against parasites was ON. I mostly relied on powerful herbal formulas that Ann Louise helped formulate. In addition, I drank mugwort tea two to three times a day and ate a lot of raw pumpkin seeds after learning that both are helpful in killing intestinal worms. And before you knew it, I detoxed like crazy. I could hardly believe what my body was eliminating. It certainly wasn’t pleasant, but it was proof that the combination of remedies was working.
After only three months on the herbal parasite program, I went back to Dr. Bueno for a checkup and was thrilled when he found no evidence of parasites. I felt much better, my digestion had improved, and I had even started to gain weight again. My health was improving overall, and I no longer looked like a starving refugee.

Fast Forward
After surviving Stage 4 cancer for more than 40 years, I don’t take a single day for granted. The Templeton Wellness Foundation is my way of giving back. I’ve sat down with countless clinicians and long-term survivors and shared their hard-won wisdom—free—for anyone looking beyond the conventional path. And every dollar from my book, by the way, goes right back to the Foundation to fund more interviews and bring you the most practical, up-to-date health information.
Here are some video interviews I think you’ll find fascinating:
- Joe Tippens who beat late-stage lung cancer with a $7 dog medicine (this one went viral)
- Cancer survivor Barney Heston who tried Joe Tippens’ protocol using a commonly prescribed, inexpensive veterinary medicine.
- Stage 4 colon cancer survivor, Sharon MacDougall, RN who survived using the Joe Tippens protocol.
- Dr. William Makis, Canadian oncologist who has had great success in treating patients with the antiparasitic medications Ivermectin and Fenbendazole.
P.S. If you’ve had a win on your wellness journey, tell us—we’d be honored to feature it on our website.
