Dr. Johanna Budwig (1908-2003), one of Germany’s eminent biochemists, was nominated not once, but seven times for the Nobel Prize. She became known for her groundbreaking research examining how fats and oils influence cell health and disease — particularly cancer. She is widely respected for advocating a simple dietary protocol which includes flaxseed oil rich in essential fatty acids alongside cottage cheese (or quark) to increase oxygenation and energy production within the body; her treatments showed remarkable results with cancer patients she treated.
But there are other cancer-preventative therapies she also promoted that are lesser known. One of them is the art of sunbathing. And before you dismiss this simple act as unproductive… read on.
Sunbathing Benefits
Sunbathing has long been celebrated for its multiple health advantages. Dr. Budwig highlighted its potential role in cancer prevention by stimulating vitamin D production through sun exposure – this process keeps immune systems strong, promotes bone health and lowers risks of certain cancers.
As time progresses, neurosurgeons, researchers, and scientists are coming to understand that sunlight, sunbathing, is more than a simple recommendation — it is a requirement for good health.
Biophotons, Light and Cancer
According to German scientist Fritz-Albert Popp, biophotons play an essential role in cell communication and overall health. Popp suggested biophotons are essential in maintaining homeostasis within our bodies – serving to regulate cellular processes smoothly while acting as regulators between biological systems.
Sunlight is nature’s ideal source of biophotons, penetrating skin layers to positively influence cellular activity. Regular exposure to the sun raises vitamin D levels and boosts biophoton energy within our cells. The simple act of daily sun exposure increases communication among cells, boosts immunity and facilitates natural healing processes within the body. Daily exposure to the sun can especially be helpful for cancer patients where increased biophoton activity aids with cell regulation and malignant transformation prevention.
Integrating Sunbathing Into Your Daily Routine
Integrating sunbathing into your daily routine is both simple and highly beneficial. Aim for a minimum of 15-20 minutes of direct sunlight exposure daily – ideally morning or late afternoon when its rays are less intense. More is better! Use this time to disconnect from cell phones, unwind, meditate, engage in light physical activity such as walking or stretching, or unplug from social media (in other words, just chill!). Go barefoot outside for maximum grounding benefits (I also wrote about that topic extensively in Chapter 10 of “I Used to Have Cancer”).
Dr. Johanna Budwig’s expertise in natural healing combined with our expanded understanding of biophotons and sunbathing provides a holistic solution to maintaining health and preventing disease. By harnessing sunlight’s healing powers to supply our cells with essential vitamins to promote overall cellular wellbeing, sunbathing provides not only increased personal well-being but also protects us against serious illnesses like cancer.
