What Is the Right Diet to Beat Cancer?

What Is the Right Diet to Beat Cancer?

Macrobiotics, Gerson therapy, Budwig protocol, keto, paleo, vegan, raw foods — with such a wide variety of diets out there that claim to help heal your cancer, how do you know which one is the right one for you?

Nothing will make your heart – and your hopes – sink lower than finding out you have cancer. Just the word – cancer – is dripping with fear and harkens back to a time in our history when it was a death sentence. Today, we have a fighting chance. While cancer rates are on the rise, with 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women in the US developing cancer in their lifetime, only 164 out of every 100,000 people will die this year from the disease.

We have tried and true diets that have been used for decades to support whatever therapies you choose to use for your cancer treatment. The problem is there are so many choices – from vegan to keto – it’s hard to know which diet is right for you and your individual needs. And the good news is you don’t have to wait until you have cancer, you can start eating right for your cellular health today!

Face Your Fears

When it comes to cancer, fear is half the battle. It freezes us and keeps us from being able to make calm, rational decisions. You have two choices in the face of FEAR:

Forget

Everything

And

Run

or

Face

Everything

And

Rise

No one can make the choice for you, but every loved one you have is begging you to fight this with everything you can. It starts with facing your fears and conquering them. Holding on to fear leads to a weakened immune system, increased cardiovascular damage, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, decreased fertility, long term memory loss, fatigue, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, accelerated aging, premature death, and perhaps the worst of all for cancer patients – depression. Studies show that when cancer patients develop depression it increases their risk of death.

Get Your Body Back in Balance

Cancer is a man-made word. If your doctor simply told you your body is extremely out of balance and has damage at the cellular level that needs to be repaired, you would likely find it much less intimidating and fearful. And in truth, cell level DNA damage from toxic overload is a root cause of many cancers developing in the body.

Your body makes up to one million cancer cells every day, depending on your diet and lifestyle. And as long as your immune system is functioning properly, these cells are destroyed and healthy cells flourish. But, when your immune system is overloaded or suppressed, these cancer cells grow unchecked and eventually the diagnosis of cancer is made. When you support your immune system and detoxification organs through a diet that’s right for you and your individual circumstances, then your body is better able to clear out those cancer cells with the therapies you use.

So how do you know the best diet to bring your body back into balance? The answer comes from your ancestors.

Eat Right for Your Ancestry

Two people diagnosed with the same cancer may require totally different diets to heal. One may need a Gerson Therapy-type approach, a vegan diet heavy on juicing and coffee enemas, while the other may thrive on a keto diet, very low in carbs and sugar and heavy on healthy fats and proteins. The question is, what’s the difference between these two? Usually it’s their ancestry.

You’ve heard the phrase “you are what you eat,” and the opposite is also true – you should “eat what you are,” which means eating foods that suit your DNA and ancestry. Humans are domesticated animals, so we’ve lost the drive to eat what is instinctively good for us, and instead choose what’s cheap, easy, fast, and feeds our cravings. Instinct is a protective mechanism. A lion isn’t going to feast on fruits and vegetables, just like a horse doesn’t hunt and eat prey animals. Each instinctively eats what fuels their body the best.

Your genetic preferences are written into your DNA. Half of your DNA came from your mother and half from your father, and written into your genetic code is the ideal environment for your genes to express themselves optimally. A large part of this ideal environment is created by the foods you eat.

With the popularity of DNA ancestry tests on the rise, we now have an affordable and accessible way to determine where we’ve come from, even when we’ve been adopted or don’t know our family histories. This is important because if you’re descended from populations that are tropical and primarily vegan, then a keto diet probably isn’t ideal for you. On the other hand, if you come from an extremely cold climate that relies primarily on animal proteins for their nutrients, then a vegan diet likely won’t help you heal.

Your body is wonderfully complex and resilient. It will try to handle everything you give it, until it can’t. The damage varies on how bad the food is for you based on your particular body chemistry. If you’re lucky, the damage may only result in weight gain. But if you’re already fighting a disease like cancer, the wrong diet can further impair your immune system and contribute to inflammation and disease.
